Orangetherory Fitness trainer Mia Duval will head up luxeFIT Barbados. We put together a fun Q&A to help you get to know her a little better. She is definitely "all of the things."
I fell in love with fitness training because: I saw the impact it has on the client. Helping people create a better quality of life, enjoy more activities with their children, feel better throughout their work day — and most of them accomplish a dream they have held onto for so long.
My personal diet/fitness regimen: I like to dip my toes in various activities such as dance, yoga, Orangetheory, athletic conditioning, Savage Race and fitness competing. Even in high school, I played soccer and volleyball, ran track and cross country and swam. I want to enjoy what I do, and life is too short to be bored with your routine. When it comes to nutrition, I have told most of my clients, "If it doesn't have a mother or come from the ground, you cannot eat it. Examples are chicken, apples, almonds, crackers."
The most rewarding part of my job: Seeing the smile and transformation of someone's life when they achieve their goals. Parents that can be more active with their children or athletes who didn't believe something was once achievable.
My favorite workout: I love Orangetheory power days. Sprinting has always been a favorite of mine and if you add a group of motivational members, you feel undefeated.
The one exercise I dread: Lunges! I know I should love them. They are great for the booty and legs, but they are the one thing I do not want to see in my workout!
My fitness role models: Jackie Joyner Kersee and Mia Hamm.

Hobbies: Latin dancing, rollerblading with my dog, logic puzzle games and horseback riding.
Favorite snack: Peanut butter protein balls.
No. 1 vacation spot: I have SO many places to explore, such as Barbados. I think ANY vacation time, even at home, would be No. 1!
If I had a super power it would be: Wouldn't we all love to eat everything and always keep our dream body?
My top fitness advice to those just starting exercise or getting back into it: DO NOT STOP. Make sure you are setting goals that are realistic. It is all about BALANCE!

One of the many issues with previous clients is that they will go on a cruise for a week and eat/drink the whole ship. Once they come back, they feel groggy and beat themselves up about it.
